Please look closely at picture number 8 and you will see that one of these was drilled from 5/64 to 1/8 of an inch. This is very easy to do on any drill press because the brass is soft. You can buy brass axle shaft at any hobby shop in about 20 different diameters and it is very easy to solder one of these gears to the shaft and it is permanent and much more reliable than a set screw. You can also use the permanent red Loctite for another method of attaching the gear to an axle.
The small worm drive mechanism that you see in one of the photographs is manufactured by us. If you are interested in one of these please contact us about purchasing one. It utilizes a small slot that allows the user to easily set the mesh distance between the two gears.

Please note that all of the extras that are seen in the photographs are used for illustration and display purposes only. Please note that these gears are over 50 years old but are currently stored with desiccant packs to control moisture. Some of these may have a very thin layer of brown patina on the brass. This is very easily removed by sliding the gear back and forth on a piece of 600 grit sandpaper.
