EAPG Ripley & Co Sun Purple "Pavonia" Pineapple Stem Etched Water Goblet~1888

Up for your consideration is a RARE Antique Sun Purple EAPG Ripley & Co Sun Purple "Pavonia" Pineapple Stem Etched Goblet. It was released in 1888. It measures 6.5" tall, 3" in diameter wide and the base diameter is 3 1/8". This goblet is in Excellent Preowned Condition, with no signs of chips,cracks or repairs, but please note there is one scratch inside the goblet behind one of the etched areas. Note: I purchased this item from a family member of the original owner, and it has been in storage since 1965. I am not sure if this is the case with this item, but often times Lavender glass is a result of vintage glass that
contained manganese dioxide and it has a tendency to
turn
different shades of
purple
when exposed to the rays of the
sun
or to other ultra-
violet
sources. ... This
changes
the manganese compound into a form that
causes
the
glass
to
turn purple
, thus the term "Sun Purple" when referring to the color of the glass.
