    Description
Vintage Hawaii KOA WOOD Presentation Bowl
A large, handsomely grained & striped koa wood bowl.  The craftsmanship here is a cut above, the wood chosen to showcase the striping in the center of the bowl, coming to "bullseyes" on the front and back edges. GORGEOUS graining and coloration.
This was a presentation piece given to Professor James H. Parrish (1926-2003) from the Medical Librarians of Hawaii.  The dedication plaque reads "KO KEIA MAKANA, ME KO MAKOU ALOHA", something along the lines of "We give this gift to you with our love". (He left the organization in 1971).  You can google the man, he was a library scholar extraordinaire. I put an excerpt from another society he belonged to in a photo, and that's only up to 1974.
Above the plaque is the Hawaii Coat of Arms.
Measures 13-1/2" wide by 4-1/4" tall. BEAUTIFUL condition with no cracks, sun-bleaching, chips and barely even any shelf wear.
Shipping via US Priority Mail or FedEx Ground. Shipping weight approx. 6 lbs.
