Metal lid and glass bottle base both read: Pond's Extract Antiseptic Dentifrice
From CosmeticsandSkin website: In the 1880s, several new witch hazel based preparations were added to the Pond product line including: an ointment, a dentifrice, plasters, a toilet cream, a soap, a lip salve, a catarrh cure, and medicated papers. By this time, many other companies were producing witch hazel products which increased competition and lowered Pond’s margins. The company began looking at alternative products and a marketing survey it had commissioned in 1891 identified an increased demand for skin-care products, and the company began a switch to cosmetics.
