    Description

    This is a calendar for the year 1970. It was a premium, or give-away by M.C. EASTER, which appears to have been the "town store" in Bokchito, OK. It reads (in part): "M.C. EASTER...L-P GAS - BUILDING MATERIALS - HARDWARE - RCA - WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES - TEXACO SINCE 1930...BOKCHITO, OKLAHOMA." "Bokchito" is a tiny town of less than 700 people. (Located in the south part of the state, between Durant and Hugo.) The picture, on the top, shows Terrie, Sherrie & Jerrie Smith. These triplets (the daughters of Ollieta and Billy Wayne Smith) were something of local celebrities in the small town. They are pictured wearing toy Texaco Fire Chief helmets and holding a Texaco fuel tanker truck. The calendar measures 11 & 1/4 inches tall, and is just under 8 inches wide. It is COMPLETE. It was made with only the ONE picture at the top, and then a page for each month. Each page is an envelope, for storing bills, receipts, etc. The BACK of each page has cooking recipes. The condition is POOR to FAIR. Virtually EVERY day of EVERY month has writing: either a number, a slash, or small notation of some kind. There are some numbers written on the BACK of the calendar as well. It is creased, horizontally, near the center. The paper has yellowed a bit, with age. Still, this is a pretty cool, regional / Texaco related collectible, and is guaranteed to be old & original - printed for the year 1970 - or your money back.
